On 13th October, we had an extremely interesting and absorbing talk on the history of the Royal Observer Corps (established in 1925) and the UK Monitoring and Warning Service (1947-1995). This was presented with an array of historical exhibits by John Shere, M0JWS, of the Royal Observer Corps Heritage Team. Members were able to examine the various pieces of equipment during the presentation.
The club made a donation to the ROC Heritage fund, and members also made contributions. More information is available from the ROC Association websites, www.roc-heritage.co.uk and www.rocatwentytwelve.org
UK Bunkers on The Air is also focusing on the Royal Observer Corps for the whole month of October. You can learn about their activities at www.bunkersontheair.org/site/roc24/
