Lucy Helton, KD2MFV: At the boundaries of Art and Radio
Club Shack Sun 31 Aug 14:30 - 17:00
Lucy Helton is currently a PhD researcher at The Slade School of Fine Art / University College London focusing on human environmental impact in outer space.
Seeing visual arts as a means of engagement, she collaboratively tests the boundaries of art and technology by making both long and short-range radio image transmissions to amateur radio operators and nautical marine faxes.
Having gained an amateur radio license, she continues making both long- and short-range image transmissions. She is currently finishing a placement at UCL’s Mullard Space Science Laboratory, Guilford where she receives satellite data transmissions on the 2m band and prints them out via a radio-fax. She was also artist-in-residence at The National Museum of Computing in 2024.
Join us to learn more about her exploration of technology & art.
