Club Shack Sun 13 Oct 14:30 - 17:00
Please note start time of 14.30h.
John Shere of the Royal Observer Corps Association Heritage Team will present a talk in two parts:
Part 1: The ROC Above and Below Ground. For 70 years the Observer Corps/Royal Observer Corps had an important role in the defence of the country, including being the ‘Eyes and Ears of the RAF’.
Part 2: the ROC and United Kingdom Warning and Monitoring Organisation (UKWMO). In 1957, the UKWMO was established to provide information to civilians and the military. The ROC would provide specific data about a nuclear blast, and this with information from Met Office would be used to produce a forecast of radioactive fallout.
